HISTORY
The original Licensed Town Guide program was started in 2004 by the Licensed Battlefield Guides as an offshoot of the Battlefield Guide Program with the emphasis on the town and civilian history. Each guide undergoes a vigorous study program prior to taking a written and oral test qualifying them to join our organization. The majority of our members have been involved in the Guide program for over 10 years. The Association of Gettysburg Licensed Town Historians became an LLC in 2015.
Our purpose is to provide entertaining and historically accurate walking tours highlighting the civilians’ experiences before, during and after the three day battle. Tours also discuss the founding of the town, Lincoln’s visit and the dedication of the National Cemetery. We offer additional tours covering a variety of subjects from the Colonial Period up to the current time. We are a group of dedicated individuals with a passion for Gettysburg and we look forward to sharing.
